Well, it’s been a while since I’ve had the time to sit down and write on this blog. There’s been a lot going on with life, work and family. And for the moment, family needs to come first.
And realizing that that’s where my priorities lie for the moment got to me to thinking about things that come first. I enjoyed reading Linda Becker’s “Your Second Youth” blog where she suggests Baby Boomer Women ask themselves this list of questions from time to time… ”
- How is your health right now? I’m not talking about not being sick. Are you as healthy as you want to be? If you keep taking care of yourself exactly the way you are now, do you believe deep in your heart that your body will be able to do what you want it to do when you’re 90? Remember, women have special health needs as we age.
- Have you taken a good look at your finances? Some women are still reluctant to do this. If so, please get over it and review your finances thoroughly. Assume you’re going to live to be 90, 95, or maybe even over 100. You’re going to want at least 80% of your income per year, every year, to maintain the lifestyle you have now when you retire. Are you happy with the numbers you’re seeing, or do you need to make some changes?
- Are you happy in your relationship? Is there anything you’d like to be doing to shake things up a little and put some of the romance back in your lives?
How content are you now? Women are still too frequently caught up in the needs of others to take this question seriously, but I suggest you take a good look at this one, too. To read the rest of the questions – and her ideas about the answers, click here: Questions to Ask First
Then I ran across this:
On the Boomer Girl Diary – Cathy found it on Facebook after a friend posted it – and I couldn’t help thinking how perfect of an example that is… what are you going to put first in YOUR life?
