First of all, I’d like to welcome you to “Reinventing the ‘F-Word’ – again.  (This is the new – and hopefully improved) – ‘F-Word’ blog. Oh, and by the way… Nope, I’m not talking about THAT ‘F-Word’!

A year and a half ago, a few months before my birthday (when I was turning the ‘dreaded F-Word’ of… gulp… 50), I had one of those ‘ah ha’ moments that we baby boomers get from time to time… (And no, I’m also not talking about hot flashes.)

My ah-ha moment came when I realized that I was, for the first time in 25 years, dreading having a birthday.

Turning 50 just seemed so… old. And I felt too young to be old.  (At least until I looked in the mirror.)

Honestly, most of the time I don’t feel all that different than I did when I was in my thirties.  Maybe a little calmer, less stressed – and hopefully a little smarter too.

Anyway, as always happens when we ask for help, I got some inspiration.  It was in an article about another woman who was also turning 50 – Jamie Lee Curtis – an actor and writer whose work I enjoy. And in the article, she talked about all the “F-Words” in her life that she was ‘reinventing’…

Words like ‘Freedom’ and ‘Fabulous’ and ‘Fit’…

And that got me thinking about the ‘F-words’ in my life.  Like fifty.  But also freedom.  And financially fit. And living a fabulous lifestyle that I wanted – and worked to make happen.

And I realized that I didn’t want to be stuck in the ‘50 is old’ box – and even better, I didn’t HAVE TO.  I could climb out of that box any time I was ready to.  (And the truth was, I had been the only person ‘keeping me prisoner’ there.  So I guess that counts as another ‘ah ha’ moment.)

Plus, I figured out there were a bunch of other ‘f-words’ that I wanted to ‘reinvent’ in my life.

The exciting thing was, when I sat down and started writing a list of ‘F-Words’ down on paper, I realized I had already reinvented a bunch of them.

And even more than that… in many ways – I had already created the ‘dream lifestyle’ I wanted.

Which led me to another ‘ah-ha’ moment.  First of all, I know without a doubt – that if I could do it – so could anyone else.

And I knew that one of the things I really wanted to be able to do was to reach out and help other women like me.  Fabulous women who were searching for answers, or trying to figure out what they wanted to do with their own ‘F-Words’ – the ones that were holding them back, and keeping them from having the life – and the lifestyle – they wanted.

And so I started this blog.

The problem is, late last summer, a bunch of my Websites and blogs got hacked.  And then my business partner was diagnosed with cancer.

And so fixing this blog was on my list of “Things To Do Before I Die” – but I didn’t really get around to fixing it until this week.

And once again, the Universe stepped in and gave me a little push – to kind of help me get my priorities back in order.  So here I am. Again.

And that’s why you’re reading what I’m calling the ‘New and Improved’ version of “Reinventing the ‘F-Word’.  Because I couldn’t recover the lost content – and so I’m starting over from scratch.

So whether you’re an old friend who just found me again, or you’re a new friend who’s checking out the blog for the first time – welcome. You can check out the ‘About Me’ page (look at the tabs up on the top of the blog) to find out more about who I am and what I do – and I’ll probably stick in a few links to some of my other sites, too.  And if something I write about moves you to comment, you’re welcome to do that too…
